- Tuesday, November 7, 2023 UNIT 6: HOW MANY LESSONS DO YOU HAVE TODAY? Lesson 1: Part 1, 2, 3 A. OBJECTIVES: By the end of the lesson, Ss will be able to: - Use the words and phrases related to the topic school lessons; - Ask and answer questions about school lessons using How many lessons do you have today?- I have ; - Show their friendliness when talking with friends on the internet by using appropriate and meaningful gestures. B. LANGUAGE FOCUS. 1. Key terms: 2. Key grammatical structures - The sentence patterns: How many lessons do you have today?- I have C. LEARNING EXPERIENCES Warm up (5’) Slap the boards: subjects New lesson 1. Look, listen and repeat (10’) - Ask about the who, where, what they do in the pictures: - Ask to guess what topic they say in the picture - Say: Look part 1 and play CD to 2 times - Say: Play CD and ask to repeat 2 times -T-Ss ,Ss-T,half-half,open pair - Check to understand the content of the dialog: - Elicit the sentence patterns: + How many lessons do you have today? + I have - Check for meanings, use and pronunciation of the sentences 2. Point and say (10’) - T lets Ss run through the pictures - Do model with picture a, -T - Ss do together -T numbers( 1-2,1-2, . -T lets Ss work in pairs -T monitors and corrects their mistakes -T asks some pairs say again 3. Let’s talk.
- - Ss are going to practise further by asking and answering questions about lessons. - Giving limit time for pp to practise. Monitor the activity and offer help, if necessary. - Invite two or three pairs to act out the conversations. They can make up the number of lessons they have so that each pair will have different answers. Then give feedback. 4. Wrap-up & Assignments - Ask students to answer the following questions: 1. OBJECTIVES 1. identify the situations for the conversations between Akiko and Nam (setting, participants, topics);(cognition) 2. ask and answer question about school lessons, using How often do you have ? – I have it 3. show their friendliness when chating on the internet by using positive attitude and appropriate gestures and intonation when asking and answering questions about school lessons (attribute) II. LANGUAGE FOCUS. 1. Key terms: once/ twice a week, three/ four times a week 2. Key grammatical structure: How often do you have ? – I have it III. INSTRUCTIONAL RESOURCES. - Textbook: Tiếng Anh 5: Student’s book page 42 - Audios (Unit 6-page 42), - Situational pictures and activity pictures (Activity 2 – page 42) - a laptop and a TV. IV. LEARNING EXPERIENCES Warm-up: - Sing the song “How many lessons do you have today?”
- 1. Look, listen and repeat: - Have the class look at the pictures. Introduce the story by pointing at each character and elicit their answers to the questions. Who’s this? Who is he/she talking with? What are they talking about? (. In Pic a, Akiko is talking to Nam on the Internet. In pic b, Nam says he’s at school and it’s break time. In Pic c, Akiko says she’s at home and study for her English lesson. In Pic d, Nam asks “How often do you have English?” and Akiko answers - Play the recording all the way through for them to listen and follow in their books. - Play it again for them to repeat line by line. Finally, point to each picture for the class to say the words in each bubble. 2. Point and say: - Tell the class that they are going to practice asking and answering questions about lessons How often do you have ? – I have it Ex: a. Music/ once a week S1: How often do you have Music? S2: I have it once a week. - run through the vocab about school lessons - Get them to practice the answers before introducing the questions. Point to the timetable for the class to say I have - Ask the question for the class to answer chorally. - Have Ss practice the question and answer in pairs. Monitor the activity and offer help, if necessary. - Invite one or two pairs to speak to check their performance. Correct their pronunciation, if necessary. 3. Let’s talk: - Tell the class that they are going to practice further by asking and answering questions about the lessons. How many lessons do you have today? - I have How often do you have ? - I have it - Set a time limit for Ss to practice. Monitor the activity and offer help, if necessary. - Invite two or three pairs to act out the conversations. LEARNING EXPERIENCES Warm-up: Sing the song: How many lessons do you have today? 4. Listen and circle a or b: - Tell the class that they are going to listen and circle a or b to complete the sentences - Ask them to read the sentences and guess the answers - Play the recording all the way through for Ss to listen. Play it again for them to do the task. - Get Ss to compare their answers before checking as a class Key: 1. A 2. A 3. B 4. A 5. Write about you: - Tell the class that they are going to write about their lessons. Have Ss read the questions and check their comprehension - Set a time limit for them to do the writing independently.
