OBJECTIVES By the end of the lesson, students will be able to: 1. say the questions and answers with the correct sentence stress; 2. identify the specific information from 2 sentences about someone address through a recording and given cues; 3. perform the chant “How often do you have?” in interesting ways, using appropriate and meaningful gestures; 4. show their friendliness when chating on the Internet by using positive attitude and appropriate gestures and intonation when asking and answering questions about school lessons B. LANGUAGE FOCUS. 1. Key terms 2. Key grammatical structures: The sentence patterns: How often do you have ? C. INSTRUCTIONAL RESOURCES. - Textbook: Tiếng Anh 5: Student’s book page 44 - Audio track: Unit 6- Lesson 3, activity 1,2,3 page 44 -- Computer & TV D. LEARNING EXPERIENCES Warm-up: - Play a game: Bingo 1. Listen and repeat: - Tell the class that they are going to practice saying questions and answers with the correct sentence stress. - Play the recording all the way through for Ss to follow in their books. Then play it again for them to repeat the sentences twice 2. Listen and circle a or b. Then say the sentences aloud. - Tell the class that they are going to listen and circle a or b to complete the sentences - Give them a few second to read the sentences in silence before playing the recording twice for Ss to do the task - Get Ss to compare their answers in pairs before checking as a class Key: 1. a, b 2. b, a 3. Let’s chant: How often do you have .? - Tell the class that they are going to say the chant - Have Ss to read the chant and check their comprehension - Play the recording all the way through for Ss to follow in their books. Then play it again for them to repeat each line
  2. - Put the class into two groups to practise chanting the questions and answers respectively - Have them practise saying the chants and doing actions in groups - Invite two or three groups to say the chant and do the actions 4. Wrap-up & Assignments - Ask students to answer the following questions: 1. What have you learnt from the lesson today? (say the questions and answers with the correct sentence stress; perform the chant “How often do you have?” in interesting ways, using appropriate and meaningful gestures; 2.What are the core values of the lesson? Read and complete - Tell the class that they are going to read the passage and complete the sentences - Get them to read the sentences and guess the answers before looking for the relevant information in the reading passage. - Set a time limit for Ss to do the task independently. Look, listen and repeat: - Have the class look at the pictures. Introduce the story by pointing at each character and elicit their answers to the questions. Who’s this? Who is he/she talking with? What are they talking about? - Play the recording all the way through for them to listen and follow in their books. - Play it again for them to repeat line by line. Finally, point to each picture for the class to say the words in each bubble. 2. Point and say: - Tell the class that they are going to practice asking and answering questions about how someone learns English How do you practise ..? – I Ex: a. speak English/ speak English every day - How do you practise speaking English? - I speak English every day - Have Ss look at the pictures and read aloud the phrases under each picture - Remind them of the use of practise reading/ listening/ speaking/ writing - Point to each picture and introduce the question for Ss to practise saying the complete question, using the information under each picture. Then point at each picture, asking the question for the class to answer - Ask the question for the class to answer chorally. - Have Ss practice the question and answer in pairs. Monitor the activity and offer help, if necessary. - Invite one or two pairs to speak to check their performance. Correct their pronunciation, if necessary. 3. Let’s talk: - Tell the class that they are going to practice further by asking and answering questions about the lessons.

LEARNING EXPERIENCES Warm-up: Invite one or two pairs to ask and answer questions about how they learn English - How do you practise ? I 4. Listen and tick: - Tell the class that they are going to listen to the recording and tick the correct pictures in their books.
  6. - Ask them to look at all the pictures to identify the characters and what they do to practise English. Then play the recording all the way through for them to listen. Play it again for them to do the task. - Get Ss to compare their answers before checking as a class. Give explanations for answers which pupils find difficult. Let’s sing: How do you learn English? - Tell the class that they are going to sing a song. - Have them read the lyrics and teach the unfamiliar words. Check their comprehension. - Play the recording all the way through for them to listen and follow in their books. Play it again for them to repeat line by line. When Ss are familiar with the melody, ask them to sing along with the music before having them practice doing actions - Invite a group to sing the song and do actions in front of the class -----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
