  1. Tuesday, December 26, 2023 UNIT 10: WHEN WILL SPORTS DAY BE? Lesson 3: 1-3 I. OBJECTIVES By the end of the lesson, students will be able to: 1. say the questions and answers with the correct sentence stress; 2. identify the stresses of 2 sentences about zoo animals through a recording and given cues; 3. perform the chant “Wha are they going to do?” in interesting ways, using appropriate and meaningful gestures; 4. Show their great pride for their school events by using appropriate and meaningful gestures. II. LANGUAGE FOCUS. Key terms: The sentence patterns: When will...be? It’ll be on... III. INSTRUCTIONAL RESOURCES. - Textbook: Tiếng Anh 5: Student’s book page 68 - Audios (Unit 10-page 68), - Situational pictures and activity pictures (Activity 2 – page 68) - a laptop and a TV. IV. LEARNING EXPERIENCES Warm up: Play game: Pass the secret! II. New lesson: 1. Listen and repeat - Tell the class that they are going to practise saying questions and answers with the correct sentence stress. - Play the recording all the way through for pupils to listen and follow in their books. Then play it again for them to repeat the sentences twice. 2. Listen and underline the stress words. Then say aloud - Tell the class that they are going to listen and underline the stressed words. - Play the recording all the way through for them to listen and follow in their books. Play it again for them to do the task. Go around and offer help, if necessary. - Have them swap and compare their answers before checking as a class. Then ask the class to read the sentences aloud. Audio script and key 1. A: When will Sports Day be? B: It’ll be on Sunday. 2. A: What are you going to do on Sports Day? B: I’m going to play table tennis. 3. Let’s chant - Tell the class that they are going to chant What are they going to do? Follow the procedure
  2. in Teaching the unit components in Introduction. - Have them say the chant and check their comprehension. Play the recording all the way through for pupils to listen and follow in their books. Play it again for them to do choral repetition. - Get pupils to practise chanting and doing actions in groups. - Call two groups to the front of the class to chant and do actions: one group chants the questions and the other chants the answers. The rest of the class claps their hands along to the rhythm. 4. Wrap-up & Assignments - Ask students to answer the following questions: 1. What have you learnt from the lesson today? (say the questions and answers with the correct sentence stress) 2. What are the core values of the lesson? (Show their great pride for their school events by using appropriate and meaningful gestures. - Remind students to do task 4,5,6 on page 63 in the student book. ADJUSTMENT: .. Tuesday, December 26, 2023 UNIT 10: WHEN WILL SPORTS DAY BE? Lesson 3: 4-6 A. OBJECTIVES: By the end of this unit pupils can - Use the words, phrases related to the topics School events and Future activities. Ask and answer questions about School events, using When will...be? It’ll be on... - Develop Ss reading and listening skills. - Ss look after , solve problems and study themselves. - Studious and obedient students and love their hometown, family and friends. B. LANGUAGES FOCUS: - Sentence Pattners: When will...be? It’ll be on... C. TEACHING AIDS: 1. Teacher’s: student’s and teacher’s book, pictures, cassette. 2. Students’: books, notebooks, workbooks. D. TEACHING PROCESSES: * Warm up: Spend a few minutes revising the chant What are they going to do? by getting two groups of five to the front of the class to say the chant and do actions. Ask the rest of the class to listen and clap their hands along to the rhythm. 4. Read and stick - Tell the class that they are going to read and tick the correct symbols. - Get them to read the text and pay attention to what the characters are going to do on Sports Day. Ask pupils to work in pairs or small groups, if necessary. - Give them time to do the task. Go around and offer help, if necessary. 5. Write about Sports Day
  3. - Tell the class that they are going to write about Sports Day at their own school. - Have pupils work in pairs or groups to discuss what they are going to write. Tell them to focus on what they are going to play/do in the event. - Give them time to do the task independently. Go around and offer help, if necessary. - Get them to swap and read what they have written before inviting two or three pupils to read their answers aloud. Key: Answers vary 6. Project - Tell the class that they are going to draw three sports. - Ask them to work in groups of three to discuss and select three sports. Then they will decide who will do what: drawing symbols, writing sentences about the sports and telling the class about them. - Give each group a piece of paper to draw the symbols and write the sentences. - Encourage them to colour the symbols. - Give them time to do the project. - Invite one or two groups to present their drawings to the class and talk about the sports. (E.g. This is swimming. Ha and Lan in our group like swimming very much. They go swimming every week.) 7. Wrap-up & Assignments - Ask students to answer the following questions: 1. What have you learnt from the lesson today? (say the questions and answers with the correct sentence stress) 2. What are the core values of the lesson? OBJECTIVES: By the end of the lesson, Ss will be able to: - Listen and identify specific information related to the theme Me and my friends - Read and identify specific information related to the theme Me and my friends - Use simple sentences to write about themselves - Skills: Read, listen to and understand from unit 6 to unit 10 - Attitude: confident, love II. TEACHING AIDS:Textbook, cassette, lesson plan. III. PROCEDURES: Warm up: Teacher: Ask Ss sing a song” When will Sports Day be” Pupils: Sing a song

Listen and tick. • Teacher:- Ask pupils to open their Student’s book on Page 70 and look at the pictures. - Tell them that they are going to listen to five different dialogues and tick the correct pictures. - Help pupils to identify the situations in the pictures. - Play the recording for pupils to listen. - Play the recording again for pupils to listen and tick. - Have pupils check answer with your partner. - Replay to check the answers.: 1. c, 2.b • Pupils:-Look at the pictures and say the information about the pictures. - Listen carefully and tick. - Check answer with your partner. II. Listen and number • Teacher: Ask pupils to look at the picture and answer the question when’s your birthday? - Call on some pupils describe before class. - Play the tape for pupils listen. - Give answer : 1.; 2.; 3.; 4. • Pupils : - Look at the pictures and describe the picture. - Listen and number the correct pictures III. IV. Read and write • Teacher: - Ask pupils to work in pairs to guess. - Get feedback from pupils and write pupils’ ideas on the board. - Ask pupils to listen the dialogue twice. - Ask pupils to listen again and check their predictions( work in pairs or groups). - Give feedback ( answer keys) : • Pupils: - Guess. 1. He has English four times a week. 2. He can read Aladdin and the Magic Lamp in English. 3. He practices speaking by talking to his foreign friends. 4. He practices writing English by sending emails to his friend Hakim in Malaysia. 5. Because he wants to watch English cartoons on TV. - Listen and share their ideas with partners. V. Write about you. Then tell the class about it. • Teacher: - Ask pupils to look the book on page 71.

OBJECTIVES: By the end of the lesson, pupils will be able to: - Knowledge: By the end of this lesson, students will be able to practice all the knowledge they have learn. - Vocabulary: T recalls all the new words. Sts follows T’s instructions review - Sentence patterns: Review how to ask and answer about one’s friends. - Skills: Reading skill, listening skill, writing skill. - Attitude: Fun, friendly II. TEACHING AIDS: textbook, cassette, lesson plan. III.PROCEDURES: 1. Warm up: • Teacher: - Have pupils sing song” What did you see at the zoo” • Pupils: Listen and sing a song 2. New lesson: *PRESENTATION Activity 1: Read and listen to the story a. Vocabulary: -T recalls all the new words. Sts follows T’s instructions. b. Set the scene: Have Ss look at the pictures and introduce five characters. Teacher describe the content of each picture. - This is the 1st of four cartoons about Miu the Cat and Chit the Mouse. To help Ss get the idea of the story, simply let them read and listen to this episode. In later episodes, the initial task will be more challenging. - Before Ss listen, ask them to look at the pics and ask them questions (e.g. A part from the cat and mouse, what can you see? A chair, a door, a window, etc.) - Play the tape and let the Ss read and listen. Activity 2: Answer the question Ss listen to the dialogue carefully and fill the words they hear into the gaps - 1st:Play the recording all the way through for Ss to listen while they are looking the pictures in their books - 2nd: play the recording for Ss to listen and number.
  6. - 3rd: play the recording for Ss to check their answers. - Have Ss trade their answers in pairs for correction - Ask some questions to ensure Ss’ comprehension of the listening text. Answers: Activity 3: Unscramble these words from the story - 1st reading: Ss read the sentences individually and check their prediction. - 2nd reading: Ss do the task (match the sentence with a appropriate respond.) - Monitor the activity and offer help when necessary - Have Ss trade the answers in pairs for correction - Call on some Ss to report their answers. Others listen and comment. - T gives feedback: a/holihundred; b/Saturday c/watch; d/badminton; c/practising Activity 4: Read and complete -T tells the context and completes the sentences. - Give a few seconds for Ss to read and look at the pictures. - Check comprehension and elicit the words to fill the gaps. - Ask Ss do the task. - Check their answers. - Do choral and individual repetition.
