OBJECTIVES: By the end of the lesson, Ss will be able to: - identify the situations for the conversations between Trung and Quan (setting, participants, topics);(cognition) - ask and answer about what a village/ town/ city is like, using What’s the .. like?- It’s . - show great pride in the beauty of their places of living II. LANGUAGE FOCUS. 1. Key terms. Like, quiet, crowded, pretty, island, mountain 2. Key grammatical structure - The sentence patterns: What’s the .. like?-It’s . III. INSTRUCTIONAL RESOURCES. - Textbook: Tiếng Anh 5: Student’s book page 8 - Audios (Unit 1-page 8), - Situational pictures and activity pictures (Activity 2 – page 8) - a laptop and a TV. IV. LEARNING EXPERIENCES 1. Warm-up: - Sing the song “The wheel on the bus” 2. Presentation. ( look, listen and repeat) Ask Ss to look at the pictures and answer the questions: Who are they? (Quan and Trung) Where are they? ( At school) What are they doing?( talking about what their hometown is like) * Dialogue: - T shows the pictures on the bb and play the CD - Ss look and repeat the dialogues 3 times - T calls on some Ss to read - Ss work in pairs in 2 minutes to practice - Some pairs read aloud - T corrects pronunciation - - Elicit new pattern. What’s the .. like?-It’s . 3. Controlled practice: (Point and say) - Use pictures to elicit: like, quiet, crowded, pretty, mountain,busy, island - T introduces the picture cues and guides Ss how to ask and answer using the cues - Ss work in pairs to practice - Get feedback - Remind Ss to remember to use appropriate gestures and intonation in asking and anwering about what a village/ town/ city is like

Guided practice ( Let’s talk) - Have students to work in groups of 4, asking and answering questions about where they live. - Ask students to complete the table below while interviewing their friends. - Remind students to use the following questions to interview their friends 1. Where do you live?- I live in/at/on .. 2. What’s it like?- It’s 3. Who do you live with? I live with .. Name where you live What it like Who you live with 1 2 3 4 - Call on some students from groups to report their friends’ where they live - Give constructive feedback and comments on the reports and correct Ss’ mistakes if necessary. 5. Wrap-up & Assignments - Ask students to answer the following questions: 1. What have you learnt from the lesson today? S2: It’s quiet and beautiful. - T corrects pronunciation 2. Listen and circle: - T shows the gap-fill on and guides. - T elicits the dialogue, play the CD several times - Ss listen and fill the gaps by circling - 4 Ss go to the board and circle the answers - Others give comments Key: 1. a 2. b 3. b 4. a 3. Write about you - Have Ss read the instruction - T asks Ss to do the task in 5 minutes. OBJECTIVES By the end of the lesson, students will be able to: 1. pronounce some two-syllable words with the stress on the first syllable; 2. identify the specific information from 4 sentences about someone address through a recording and given cues; 3. perform the chant “Where do you live?” in interesting ways, using appropriate and meaningful gestures; 4. show great pride in the beauty of their places of living B. LANGUAGE FOCUS. 1. Key terms ‘city, ‘village, ‘mountains, ‘tower 2. Key grammatical structures The sentence patterns: Where do you live?- I live ..What’s your like? – It’s C. INSTRUCTIONAL RESOURCES. - Textbook: Tiếng Anh 5: Student’s book page 10 - Audio track: Unit 3- Lesson 3, activity 1,2,3 page 10 - Song: Travel song - Computer & TV D. LEARNING EXPERIENCES 1. warmer - Greet Ss. Then get them to play the game Bingo. Use the words: address, village, town, city, island, big, small, far, and quiet. - When the game is over, have the class make sentences with the words used in the game, and then read the sentences aloud. 1. Phonic practice( Listen and repeat.) - Present the activity. Stick the word cards ‘city, ‘village, ‘mountain, ‘tower, and the sentences on the board for Ss to read in silence. - Play Track 9 for Ss to listen. - Play it again for Ss to repeat each word and sentence twice. 2. Phonic checking ( Listen and circle a or b. Then say the sentences aloud.) - Present the activity. Tell Ss to read each incomplete sentence and guess the correct word to complete it.
  5. - Play Track 10 for Ss to do the task and check the answers. - Check answers as a class. - Have the class read aloud the completed sentences. Key: 1 b 2 a 3 a Audio script 1. Tell Ss to read the chant in silence. Check comprehension and give feedback. - Play Track 11 twice for Ss to listen and repeat each line. - Show Ss how to mime the chant. - Get Ss to practise saying and miming the chant in groups. - Get one or two groups to perform the chant. - Wrap up. - Check the project progress. 5. Wrap-up & Assignments - Ask students to answer the following questions: 1. What have you learnt from the lesson today? (pronounce some two-syllable words with the stress on the first syllable) 2.What are the core values of the lesson? LEARNING EXPERIENCES 1. Warm up: -Spend a few minutes having the class play Bingo with the words: village, town, city, island, big, busy, quiet, large, crowded and small. Then have them make sentences with the words used in the game. 2. Listen and circle a or b - Tell Ps that they are going to listen to four dialogues and circle a or b to complete the sentences. Ask them to read the sentences and guess the correct answers. - Have Ps look at the sentences to identify the similarities and different between sentences. Check understanding. - Play the recording a few times. Ask Ps to listen the recording and circle the correct sentences. Tell them not to worry if they cannot understand every word. - Get Ps to compare their answers before giving feedback. Monitor the activity and offer help when necessary. 3. Write about you - Tell Ps that they are going to write about where they live and who they live with. Have them read the questions and check their understanding. - Set a time limit for them to do the task. Monitor the activity and offer help if necessary. -Get Ps to swap their writing before inviting one or two pupils to read their answers aloud and give feedback. 4. Let’s play - Tell Ps that they are going to play the game Spot the difference. Tell them that they have to compare the two pictures and find out the five details which are different. The first pupil who finds out all the different details is the winner. Key: Picture b is different from Picture a in the following ways: -There is one more car in the road. -There is a woman in front of the yellow building. -The sign next to the yellow building is blue, and it reads BUS STOP. -There is no logo of pills on the pharmacy. -There is a boy behind the father and daughter. 5. Wrap-up & Assignments - Ask students to answer the following questions: 1. What have you learnt from the lesson today? (reading and witing about places of living) 2.What are the core values of the lesson? (show great pride in the beauty of their places of living) - Remind students to do exercises in the workbook .
