  1. Tuesday, January 15, 2024 UNIT 11. WHAT’S THE MATTER WITH YOU? Lesson 2: Parts 1, 2, 3 I.OBJECTIVES By the end of the lesson, pls will be able to: 1. give and respond to advice on common health problems, using You should/ shouldn’t Yes, I will/ Ok, I won’t 2. know how to keep fit and stay healthy. 3. Ss share and empathy with their friends by using appropriate gestures and intonation when giving and responding to advice on common health problems (attribute) II. LANGUAGE FOCUS. 1.Key terms: go to the doctor, go to the dentist, take a rest, eat alot of fruit, carry heavy things, eat a lot of sweets 2. Key grammatical structure The sentence patterns: You should see the doctor You shouldn’t eat ice-cream III. INSTRUCTIONAL RESOURCES. - Textbook: Tiếng Anh 5 tap 2: Student’s book page 8 - Audios (Unit 11-page 8), - Situational pictures and activity pictures (Activity 2 – page 8) - a laptop and a TV. IV. LEARNING EXPERIENCES * Warm up: - pls display their homelink pictures on the board. *New words: 1. Look, listen and repeat: - Have Sts to look at the picture on page 10 in part 1 and ask them some questions to identify the characters in the picture: Who are they? (Mai - Nam) What are they doing? (Nam is talking to Mai about his sore throat) - Tell pls that they are going to listen and repeat. (Two times) - Ask pls to work in groups to take turns to say the lines from the dialogue. - Ask pls to give the model sentences: Nam: I’ve got a sore throat Mai: You should see a doctor. And you shouldn’t drink cold water  I’ve got______  You should/ shouldn’t _____ - Ask pls to give other examples to get the form, meaning, intonation, 2. Point and say. - Ask pls to look at the pictures a, b, c and d on page 10 and identify the activities in the pictures. a. headache/ take a rest b. stomachache/ drink cold water c. cold/ drink hot milk d. toothache/ eat sweets e. sore eye/ use some eye drops
  2. f. backache/ carry heavy things - Ask pls to practise in chorus. - Tell pls to practise in pairs. - Call some pairs to demonstrate the task in front of the class. - Check pls’ pronunciation and offer them when necessary. - Play the game at home. 3. Let’s talk. - Present the activity. Describe the task: Ss interact in pairs, using the advice and the responses in the activity. - Wrap up. - Check the project progress. 4. Wrap-up & Assignments - Ask students to answer the following questions: 1. What have you learnt from the lesson today? (give and respond to advice on common health problems, using You should/ shouldn’t Yes, I will/ Ok, I won’t) 2. What are the core values of the lesson? (Ss share and empathy with their friends by using appropriate gestures and intonation when giving and responding to advice on common health problems) - Remind students to do part 4,5,6 in students book. Ajustment: .. Tuesday, January 15, 2024 UNIT11. WHAT’S THE MATTER WITH YOU? Lesson 2: Parts 4, 5, 6 I. OBJECTIVES: By the end of the lesson, pls will be able to: - Pronounce correctly the sounds of the letters arm as in arm and those of the letters ear as in ear. - Listen and number the pictures - Know how to take care of their health II. LANGUAGE FOCUS - Sentence patterns: What’s the matter with you - I’ve got a headache - Vocabulary: Review: arm, headache, earache, sore eyes, stomachache, toothache, backache, sore throat, temperature, cold, matter, should - Phonics: arm, ear III. TEACHING AIDS: 1. Teacher: fresh cards, CD player, 2. Pupils: Mini-boards, Student’s book, IV. PROCEDURES: * Warm up: - Sing the chant and do actions with their fingers as follow: - Open your fingers/ Close them/ Open/ Close them/ Put them on your (hair) * New lesson: 4.Listen and number.
  3. - Ask pls to look at the pictures a, b, c, d, and e on page 9 and identify the activities in the pictures. a. a temperature b. a stomachache c. a toothache d. a backache e. a sore throat - Ask pls to guess the orders of the pictures. - Let pls share their predictions. - Ask pls to listen to the tape and check their predictions. (2 times) - Get feedback - Ask pls to listen and repeat all the sentences in the tape. - Check pls’ pronunciation and offer them when necessary. Answer key: a.5 b.1 c.4 d.2 e.3 5. Fun time. Simon say - Ask Ps to open their Student’s book on page 9. stick the large-sized sheet of paper with the game Simon sáy .on it on the board and tell Ps about the activity: You are going to play the game Simon Says. Explain the game. Point to the picture and ask Ps to comment what they see. Pre-teach some expressions for Ps to play the game: + hold up your hand + turn left + close your eyes + touch your head .. - Write the expressions on the board and get Ps to repeat each of them a few times. - Divide the class into groupp of 8. One P act as Simon to say the expressions. The others do actions. The Ps who have the correct action will stay in the group. If not, they are out. - The group with the most Ps left wins. * Reinforcement (5’) - Ask pls to do fun time (Simon says ) * Homelink(2’) - Ps play the game at home

Lesson 3: Parts 1, 2, 3 I.OBJECTIVES By the end of the lesson, pls will be able to: 1. say the questions and the answers with the correct intonation. What’s the matter with you? ̶ I have a headache. What’s the matter with you? ̶ I have a toothache. What’s the matter with you? ̶ I have a stomach ache. 2. listen and circle the letters showing the correct words completing the answers.Then ask and answer the questions. 3. say the chant What’s the matter with you? 4. Ss share and empathy with their friends by using appropriate gestures and intonation when giving and responding to advice on common health problems II. LANGUAGE FOCUS. III. INSTRUCTIONAL RESOURCES. - Student’s book, p. 10 - Word cards for the pronunciation practice - CD2A, Tracks 9,10 & 11 IV. LEARNING EXPERIENCES Warm up Greet Ss. Divide the class into two halves to take turns role playing the conversations in Activity 5, Lesson 2. Phonic practice 1. Listen and repeat. - Present the activity. Stick / Write the questions and the answers on the board for Ss to read. Tell Ss to read the sentences and pay attention to the blue arrows indicating the intonation. - Play Track 9 for Ss to listen. - Play it again for Ss to repeat each sentence twice. Phonic checking 2. Listen and circle a or b. Then ask and answer. (8’) - Present the activity. Tell Ss to read each incompleted sentence and guess the correct word/phrase to complete it. - Play Track 10 for Ss to do the task. - Check answers as a class. - Divide the class into two halves to take turns asking and answering the questions. - Key: 1 b 2 b 3 a 4 a Chant practice 3. Let’s chant. (15’) - Present the chant What’s the matter with you? Tell Ss to read the chant in silence. - Check comprehension and give feedback. - Play Track 11 for Ss to listen and repeat twice. - Mime the chant. - Get Ss to practise saying and miming the chant in groups.
  5. - Get two groups to perform the chant. - Wrap up. - Check the project progress. 4. Wrap-up & Assignments - Ask students to answer the following questions: 1. What have you learnt from the lesson today? (say the questions and the answers with the correct intonation.) 2. What are the core values of the lesson? (Ss share and empathy with their friends by using appropriate gestures and intonation when giving and responding to advice on common health problems) - Remind students to do part 4,5,6 in students book. Parts 4, 5, 6 I.OBJECTIVES By the end of the lesson, pls will be able to express common health problems and give responses. Pupils know how to keep fit and stay healthy. II. LANGUAGE FOCUS Sentence patterns: I’ve got a sore throat You should see the doctor You shouldn’t eat ice-cream Vocabulary: arm, headache, earache, sore eyes, stomachache, toothache, backache, sore throat, temprature, cold, matter, should III. TEACHING AIDS: 1. Teacher: poster, flashcards 2. Pupils: Mini-boards, Student’s book, IV. PROCEDURES: * Warm up: - pls display their homelink pictures on the board. * New lesson: *New words: (write on the boards and teach the new words). + free: tự do, rảnh rỗi + e – book: sách điện tử + Case: trường hợp + detective: trinh thám + Series: chuỗi, dãy + change: thay đổi + fight: đấu tranh, chiến đấu + Organization: tổ chức - gets Ps to repeat in chorus, groups and individually 3. Read the passage and do the task. - Ask Ss to look at the picture on P 11. - Set the context: you’re going to a passage and do the task that follow.
  6. - Read the passage, check Ss’ comprehension. - Tell them that they should scan the information in the passage to do the task 1. - Check if Ss understand the task. Do the first for example - Give Ss sufficient time to do the task and move around to monitor the activity. - Have Ss to check their answers in pairs before call some Ss to report the answer to the class. *Answers: a, Number the pictures to match the right tips: 1- b; 2- f; 3- c; 4- e; 5- d; 6- a b, Tick Yes or No: 1. Yes 2. No 3. Yes 4. Yes 5. No 4. Write. - Ask Sts to open the book on page 12. Draw P’s attention to the writing frames and get them to read the messages written by Linda and Mai. Tell then the writing purpose: You are going to read the messages written by Linda and Mai and choose the appropriate words to complete messages that follow. - set the time for Ps to do the task. Remind them not to copy exactly the sentences provided in the messages of Linda and Mai, and that they should write theirr draft before copying onto a clean sheet of paper for the classroom display. - Set time for Sts to work individually - Call on Sts to read their work to the class. - Listen and check their mistakes. 5. Fun time: Make a class survey. Then report orally. Who is the Healthiest in Our Class? - Ask Ps to open their Ps’ book on page 12 and tell them that they are going to make a class survey to find out who is the healthiest in their class. Ask Ps to read the chart and check their comprehension. Give the meaning of the new vocabulary and make sure they understand the scoring way. - How to play the game: Ps work in pairs to take turns to ask and answer the questions in the chart and tick the appropriate column Yes or No. - Ps count the points after finishing their ticking. The Ps who has the most points is the healthiest one in the class. *Reinforcement. - Do the fun time on page 13 *Homelink - Play the game at home.
