  1. Tuesday, March 12, 2024 UNIT 15: WHAT WOULD YOU LIKE TO BE IN THE FUTURE? Lesson 2: Part 1-2-3 I. OBJECTIVES - By the end of this unit, pupils can use the words and phrases related to the topic Future plans. - Pupils can ask for and give reasons. - Pupils can develop listening and speaking skills. - listen and tick the correct pictures. - read and fill the gapped exchanges, using the pictures. - sing the song What would you like to be in the future? II. SENTENCE PATTERNS Revision III. VOCABULARY The song lyrics IV. TEACHING AIDS • Student’s book, p. 31 • CD2A, Tracks 44 & 45 V. PROCEDURES: *Warm up: Spend a few minutes revising the previous lesson. 1. Look, listen and repeat - Point each character and elicit pupils’ answers: Who are they? What does Linda want to know? What would Mai like to be in the future? Get pupils to repeat the new word a few times. - Playing the recording all the way through for the class to listen. - Play it again for pupils to repeat line by line. 2. Point and say - Teach the new phrases. - Point to each picture and ask the question Why would you like to be ? for pupils to answer. - Have pupils practice asking and answering in pairs. - Invite one or two pairs to speak to check. 3. Let’s talk - Get pupils to work in pairs. - Set a time limit for the class to practice. - Invite a few pairs to act out their dialogues.

II. Languages focus: - Sentence Pattners: Why would you like to be ...? Because I’d like to ... - Vocabulary: look after, design, building... III. Teaching aids: 1. Teacher’s: student’s and teacher’s book, pictures, cassette. 2. Students’: books, notebooks, workbooks. IV. Procedures: *Warm up: Spend a few minutes revising the previous lesson. 4. Listen and circle a, b or c - Playing the recording all the way through for pupils to listen. - Play it again for them to do the task. - Get them to compare their answers. - Key: 1c 2a 3b 4c 5. Read and complete - Give pupils a few seconds to read the text. - Set a time limit for pupils to do the task independently. - Get pupils to compare their answers in pair before checking as a class. - Key: 1 nurse 2 look after 3 hospital 4 do 5 write 6. II. LANGUAGES FOCUS: - Phonetic: What would you like to be in the future? I’d like to be a nurse. III. TEACHING AIDS: 1. Teacher’s: student’s and teacher’s book, pictures, cassette. 2. Students’: books, notebooks, workbooks. IV. PROCEDURES

Thursday, March 14, 2024 UNIT 15: WHAT WOULD YOU LIKE TO BE IN THE FUTURE? Lesson 3: Part 4-5-6 I. OBJECTIVES Pupils can - read the paragraph, and tick the sentences T (True) or F (False). - write about what they would like to be and do in the future, using the writing frame. - make a poster about what they would like to be in the future, and tell the class about it. - colour the stars showing their English competences. II. TEACHING AIDS Student’s book, p. 35 III. PROCEDURES Warm up (5’) Greet Ss. Have the class say the chant What would you like to be in the future? / Invite two groups to say and mime the chant. Production 4. Read and tick True (T) or False (F). (8’) • Present the activity. Tell Ss to read each sentence, and scan the paragraph to compare the information. • Set time for Ss to do the task. • Check answers as a class. Key: 1 T 2 T 3 F 4 T 5 T 5. Write about what you would like to be and do in the future. (7’) • Present the activity. Tell Ss to read the writing frame, and think about the appropriate information to write. • Set time for Ss to do the task. I’d like to be a / an (job) because I want to (activity). I’d like to work in / at / on (work place) because I (reason). That’s the end of my report. Thank you very much for your listening. • Invite a few Ss to present their posters. • Get the class to display their posters, and keep them in the portfolios. Self-evaluation Colour the stars. • Present the activity. • Give Ss enough time to read and colour the stars. • Invite a few Ss to show and talk about their stars. • Wrap up.
