- Tuesday, September 19, 2023 UNIT 2: I ALWAYS GET UP EARLY. HOW ABOUT YOU? Lesson 1: (1-2-3) I. OBJECTIVES By the end of the lesson, students will be able to: 1. identify the situations for the conversations between Quan and Tom (setting, participants, topics);(cognition) 2. ask and answer about someone’s daily routine, using What do you do?- I always/usually/often/sometimes ; (skills) 3. show their responsibilities in keeping a healthy daily routine and great respect for other’s daily routine by using appropriate gestures and intonation when asking and answering about their daily routine . (attribute) II. LANGUAGE FOCUS. 1. Key terms. Always, usually, often, sometimes, never,brush my teeth, do morning exercise, 2. Key grammatical structure The sentence patterns: What do you do?- I always/usually/often/sometimes ; III. INSTRUCTIONAL RESOURCES. - Textbook: Tiếng Anh 5: Student’s book page 12 - Audios (Unit 2-page 12), - Situational pictures and activity pictures (Activity 2 – page 12) - a laptop and a TV. IV. LEARNING EXPERIENCES 1. Warm up. - Have the class talk about their houses, using the drawings from Unit 1, Lesson 3, Activity 6. Get them to point at each drawing and say the address and what it is like. Introduce the new lesson by writing the title on the board and have pupils repeat it once or twice. - Give feedback 2. Presentation( Look, listen and repeat.p 12) - Have the class look at the pictures. Introduce the story by pointing at each character and elicit their answers to the questions. - Play the recording all the way through for pupils to listen and follow in their books. Play it again for them to repeat line by line. - Check their understanding of the story. - Teach some new word. always, early, breakfast, brush, teeth, exercise 3. Practice
- * Controlled practice (Point and say- p12) - Tell the class that they are going to practise asking and answering questions about someone’s daily routines, using What do you do in the morning/afternoon/evening? I always/usually/often/ sometimes ... - Have pupils look at the pictures. Teach them how to read the words and phrases under each picture. - Ask them to pay attention to the pronunciation of the words: 'always, 'usually, 'often and 'sometimes. - Point at each picture and ask the question What do you do ...? for pupils to answer chorally, using the information under the picture. - Have them practise asking and answering the questions in pairs. - Then invite one or two pairs to speak - check their performance. * Guied practice ( Let’s talk- p 13) - Tell the class that they are going to practise further by asking and answering questions about someone’s daily routines - Get pupils to work in pairs. Remind them to use the questions and answers in their books. - Set a time limit for them to practise. Monitor the activity and offer help, if necessary. - Invite a few pairs to act out their conversations. - Then give feedback. 4. Wrap-up & Assignments - Ask students to answer the following questions: 1. What have you learnt from the lesson today? (ask and answer about someone’s daily routine, using What do you do?- I always/usually/often/sometimes ;) 2.What are the core values of the lesson? (show their responsibilities in keeping a healthy daily routine and great respect for other’s daily routine by using appropriate gestures and intonation when asking and answering about their daily routine ) - Remind students to do exercises in the workbook .

OBJECTIVES By the end of the lesson, students will be able to: 1. identify the specific information from 4 dialouges about someone daily routine by listen and tick the correct answer; 2. identify specific information by skimming the text about Nam’s daily routine; (skills) 3. perform the song “This is the way we do things” in interesting ways, using appropriate and meaningful gestures; 4. show their responsibilities in keeping a healthy daily routine and great respect for other’s daily routine by using appropriate gestures and intonation when asking and answering about their daily routine . (attribute) II. LANGUAGE FOCUS. 1. Key terms. Always, usually, often, sometimes, never,brush my teeth, do morning exercise, 2. Key grammatical structure The sentence patterns: What do you do?- I always/usually/often/sometimes ; III. INSTRUCTIONAL RESOURCES. - Textbook: Tiếng Anh 5: Student’s book page 13 - Audios (Unit 2-page 13), - activity pictures (Activity 4 – page 13) - a laptop and a TV. IV. LEARNING EXPERIENCES Warm up. - Spend a few minutes revising the previous lesson by inviting one or two pairs of pupils to ask and answer questions about their daily routines, using What do you do in the morning/afternoon/ evening? I always/usually/often/sometimes ... 4. Listen and tick. - Tell the class that they are going to listen to the recording and tick the correct pictures. - Ask them to look at the pictures to identify the characters and their activities. - Play the recording all the way through for pupils to listen and tick the pictures. Play it again for them to check their answers. Monitor the activity and offer help, if necessary. - Get pupils to compare their answers before checking as a class. Play the recording a third
- time to confrm the answers. Key: 1 c 2 b 3 b 4 a 5. Read and complete. - Tell the class that they are going to read and fll the gaps with like, do, TV, play and usually. - Give them a few seconds to read the text and the words in the box. Remind them to focus on the context to select the appropriate words. - Set a time limit for pupils to do the task independently. Monitor the activity and offer help, if necessary. - Get pupils to compare their answers in pairs before checking as a class. If there is enough time, have the class read the completed text aloud. Key: 1 do 2 usually 3 play 4 TV 5 like 6. Let’s sing. - Tell the class that they are going to sing the song This is the way we do things. Have pupils read each line of the lyrics and teach the unfamiliar words. Check comprehension. - Play the recording all the way through for pupils to listen and follow in their books. Play it again and ask pupils to do choral repetition line by line. - When pupils are familiar with the melody, ask the class to sing along with the music before having them practise singing and doing actions in groups. - Invite a group to sing the song and do actions in front of the class. Production. - Have them sing the song again 7. Wrap-up & Assignments - Ask students to answer the following questions: 1. What have you learnt from the lesson today? (ask and answer about someone’s daily routine, using What do you do?- I always/usually/often/sometimes ;) 2.What are the core values of the lesson? - 2. ask and answer questions about frequency, using How often ..?- I every day/ once/ twice . a week/ a month; (skills) 3. recognize the benefits of good daily routine and respect for other people’s daily routines by using positive attitude and appropriate gestures and intonation when asking and answering questions about frequency (attribute) II. LANGUAGE FOCUS. 1. Key terms. Look for, information, project, once a week, twice a week, three times a week, surf the Internet, go to the cinema . 2. Key grammatical structure The sentence patterns: How often ..?- I every day/ once/ twice . a week/ a month. III. INSTRUCTIONAL RESOURCES. - Textbook: Tiếng Anh 5: Student’s book page 14 - Audios (Unit 2-page 14), - Situational pictures and activity pictures (Activity 2 – page 14) - a laptop and a TV. IV. LEARNING EXPERIENCES Warm up: Brainstorming:- Ask Ss tell things they do every day. Activity 1: Language input (Look, listen and repeat.) - Show students the situational pictures and ask the following questions to help them understand the communication situations in each picture. -Who are they in the picture?(Nam and Linda) -Where are they?( at home) -What are they doing?( talking) -Ask students listen and repeat after the tape -Repeat again and read in pairs - Sentence Pattern: A: How often do you .?- B: I every day/ once/ twice . a week/ a month. Activity 2: Practice * Sentence pattern practice (full controlled) 2. Point and say. (10’) - Present the activity. Tell Ss the meaning of the sentences in practice. Point at the group of words under each picture, check comprehension and give feedback. Have Ss repeat each group twice (Ref. Tiếng Anh 5, Teacher’s book, p. 15T). - Play Track 17 for Ss to repeat twice. - Interact with Ss to ask and answer questions about frequency, using the group of words under each picture. - Get Ss to practise in pairs asking and answering questions about frequency, using the group of words under each picture. - Invite a few pairs to check their performance. * Further practice (less controlled)
- 3. Let’s talk. (10’) - Warm up. Get one or two pairs to role play 1. Look, listen and repeat. - Present the activity. Describe the task: Ss interact in pairs, using the questions and the answers in the activity. Activity 3: Wrap-up & Assignments - Ask students to answer the following questions: 1. What have you learnt from the lesson today? (ask and answer questions about frequency, using How often ..?- I every day/ once/ twice . a week/ a month) 2. What are the core values of the lesson? (recognize the benefits of good daily routine and respect for other people’s daily routines by using positive attitude and appropriate gestures and intonation when asking and answering questions about frequency) - Check the project progress. Objectives: By the end of the lesson Ps will be able to: - ask and answer questions about frequency, using How often ..?- I every day/ once/ twice . a week/ a month. - develop Ss speaking and listening skills II. Language focus: Vocabulary: Look for, information, project, once a week, twice a week, three times a week, surf the Internet, go to the cinema . Sentence Patterns: - How often do you come to the library? I come to the library once a week. III.Teaching aids: books, puppets, pictures. IV.Procedure: Activity 1. Listen and number: -T asks them to look at the pictures and identify the characters and their activities. -T plays the recording all the way through for Sts. Play it again for them to choose the correct numbers -Sts call out the answers. Others give comments. Key: 1/b 2/c 3/d 4/a Activity 2.Write about your daily routines: -T tells them to write about their daily routines - Give them a few minutes to write and base on the questions
- -Ask Sts write about them. -T calls some Sts go to the board and write Others give comments Activity 3.Let’s play: T tells them to play “Do the crossword puzzle” -Sts have to look at the pictures and complete the corresponding word,using the given letters as hints -Call some sts read their answers and whole class repeat each word. -T gives feedback.
