- Tuesday, October 3, 2023 Period 15 UNIT 3: WHERE DID YOU GO ON HOLIDAY? Lesson 2: (1-3) A. OBJECTIVES. By the end of the lesson, Ss will be able to: - ask and answer questions about means of transport - show great pride in the beauty of the country and great respect for other people’s holidays by using appropriate gestures and intonation when asking and answering about their last holidays B. LANGUAGE FOCUS. 1. Key terms Province, coach, back, plane, train, taxi, motorbike, underground, bus, fun. 2. Key grammatical structures The sentence patterns: : “-How did you get there? - I went by . ” C. INSTRUCTIONAL RESOURCES. - Textbook: Tiếng Anh 5: Student’s book page 22-23 - Audio track: Unit 3- Lesson 3, activity 1,2,3 page 22 - Song: Travel song - Computer & Projector D. LEARNING EXPERIENCES Warm up: - Play the game Bingo - Give comment. Presentation: * New words. -T follows the steps of presenting new words: Province, coach, back, plane, train, taxi, motorbike, underground, bus, fun. -Sts follows T’s instructions. 1. Look, listen and repeat: -T shows the pictures on the bb and read the dialogues. -Sts look and repeat the dialogues 3 times. -T gives out the patterns. -Sts copy the patterns. 2.Point and say: --T follows steps of picture cues. -Sts try to practice using the pattern above. -T corrects speaking. 3. - UNIT 3: WHERE DID YOU GO ON HOLIDAY? Lesson 2: (4, 5, 6) I. Objectives: After the lesson, students will be able to: - listen and write. - write about someone’s last holiday. - show great pride in the beauty of the country and great respect for other people’s holidays by using appropriate gestures and intonation when asking and answering about their last holidays II. Langguage focus: 1. Vocabulary:( Review) Trip, really, ancient town, imperial city, holiday. 2. Sentence Patterns: “Where did you go on holiday? - I went to ” III. Teaching aids: books, puppets, pictures. V. Procedure: 1. Warm up: - Spend a few mins revising the language learnt by playing a game of Slap the board, using the character cards. - Give comment. 2. Listen and write one word in each blank: * New words. - T follows the steps of presenting new words: Trip, really, ancient town, imperial city, holiday. - Sts follows T’s instructions. - T elicits the sentences. - T play the tape. - Sts listen and write. - Some Sts call out the answers. -Others give comments. -T gets feedback. 3.Write about your last holiday: -T asks Ss do the task for 5 minutes. T goes around for help, if necessary. - T calls some Ss go to the board and write down their answers. The others give comment. - T gives feedback 4. Let’s sing: -T sticks the song on the bb, sings and guides Ss to sing. 5. Wrap up -Do exercises in the workbook. Learn by heart the new words and structures.- T reads the text. -T tells Ss take note.

Objectives: After the lesson, students will be able to: - pronounce the three-syllable words with the stress on the first syllable: 'motorbike, 'underground, 'holiday, 'family. - listen and circle the correct letters showing the words completing the sentences. - say the chant Where did you go? - show great pride in the beauty of the country and great respect for other people’s holidays by using appropriate gestures and intonation when asking and answering about their last holidays II. Langguage focus: 1. Vocabulary:( Review) Trip, really, ancient town, imperial city, holiday. 2. Sentence Patterns: “Where did you go on holiday? - I went to ” IV. Teaching aids Student’s book, p. 22 Word cards for the pronunciation practice CD1A, Tracks 29, 30 & 31 V. Procedure: Warm up (7’) Greet Ss. Then get the class to sing the song How did you get there? / Invite two groups to sing and mime the song. Phonic practice 1. Listen and repeat. (5’) - Present the activity. Stick the word cards 'motorbike, 'underground, 'holiday,'family, and the sentences on the board for Ss to read. - Play Track 29 for Ss to listen. - Play it again for Ss to repeat each word and sentence twice. Phonic checking 2. Listen and circle a or b. Then say the sentences aloud. (8’) - Present the activity. Tell Ss to read each incomplete sentence and guess the correct word to complete it. - Play Track 30 for Ss to do the task, and check the answers. - Check answers as a class. - Have the class to read aloud the completed sentences. - Chant practice 3. Let’s chant. (15’) - Present the chant Where did you go? Tell Ss to read the chant in silence. Check comprehension and give feedback. - Play Track 31 for Ss to listen and repeat each line twice. - Mime the chant. - Get Ss to practise saying and miming the chant in groups. - Get two groups to perform the chant. - Wrap up. - Check the project progress. Guide Ss the presentation language. Thursday, October 5, 2023 UNIT 3: WHERE DID YOU GO ON HOLIDAY? Lesson 3: (4,5,6) I. Objectives: After the lesson, students will be able to: - read and complete the gapped letter, using the words provided. - read the letter, and write the answers to the questions. - interview two classmates about their holidays. - show great pride in the beauty of the country and great respect for other people’s holidays by using appropriate gestures and intonation when asking and answering about their last holidays II. Langguage focus: 1. Vocabulary:( Review) Trip, really, ancient town, imperial city, holiday. 2. Sentence Patterns: “Where did you go on holiday? - I went to ” IV. Teaching aids - Student’s book, p. 23 - School things for the project III. Procedures: Warm up (5’) Greet Ss. Have the class say the chant Where did you go? / Invite two groups to say and mime the chant. Production 4. Read and complete. (8’) • Present the activity. Tell Ss to read the letter, and pay attention to the word order and the context (words before and after each gap) for the missing words. • Give Ss enough time to do the task. • Check answers as a class. • Get the class to read the completed sentences. Project (15’) • Present the activity and check Ss’ work. • Give Ss enough time to rehearse their presentation. Sample: Hello, class.
