- LESSON PLAN TIENG ANH 1-2 WEEK 11 Teaching date:19/11/2024 Period: 21 UNIT 6: IN THE CLASSROOM Lesson 1 I. OBJECTIVES: 1. Language focus/ Knowledge: - Vocabulary: pen, pencil, bell, red. - Sound: /e/ 2. Competences: + Remember and say some new words: pen, pencil, bell, red. + Pronounce the sound of the letter: E/e 3. Attitude: -Actively participate in activities with their classmates in pairs, groups or class. Educate Ss to become studious and obedient students; love learning English II. TEACHING AIDS: - Pictures, E- book, computer, projector, pictures, recording. III. PROCEDURE: Activity 1: Warm up:5’ *Aim:help ss to be eager and happy to begin the new lesson. *Procedure: - Ask a group of pupil to play Matching game with the target vocabulary. Activity 2. Listen and repeat:13’ *Aim: help Ss to pronounce the sound of the letter E/e and remember and say some new words: pen, pencil, bell, red. *Procedure: - Have Ss look at the picture, saying Look at the picture, please! and describe the picture. Draw Ss’ attention to the words next to the things/colour and the colour of the letter E/e. Check comprehension. -Ask Ss to point to the letter E/e, saying Point to the letter E/e, please! Have them listen and repeat the sound of the letter E/e, saying Listen and repeat, please! more than once, if necessary. -Tell Ss to point to the pencil in the picture and the word pencil, saying Point to the pencil and the word “pencil”. Ask them to listen and repeat the word, saying Listen and repeat, please! Then play the recording again, if necessary, for Ss to do choral and individual repetition. Correct pronunciation, if necessary - Follow the same procedure with the words bell, pen and red. Give further support to those Ss who find it difficult to do the task. Then encourage Ss to point to the picture and say the words in pairs or groups.

Activity 3. Point and say:14’ *Aim: help Ss to practise pronouncing the sound of the letter E/e and remember and say some new words: pen, pencil, bell, red. *Procedure: - Have Ss look at the picture again and ask them to describe the picture again (in Vietnamese). Draw their attention to the letter E/e , the word pencil and the things, if necessary. - Get them to point to the letter E/e and say it. Let them point to pencil and say . - Give further support to those Ss who find it difficult to do the task. - Follow the same procedure with other things. I have a red pencil. +Trace the letter E/e. 3. Attitude: -Actively participate in activities with their classmates in pairs, groups or class. Activity 2. Listen and chant:10’ *Aim: help Ss to read the chant with some words: red, pen, pencil. *Procedure: - Have Ss look at the chant and draw Ss’ attention to the first verse and explain its meaning. Ask them to pay attention to the letter E/e and the words red, pen and the phrase A red pen. Check comprehension. - Play the recording of the first verse for Ss to listen and to get familiarized with the tune, saying Listen to the first line, please! - Play the recording again, ask Ss to listen and repeat the first line. Then play the recording for them to listen and repeat until they feel confident. - Follow the same procedure with the other verse. Show Ss how to chant and clap their hands. Correct pronunciation, if necessary. - Play the recording all the way through. Ask Ss to listen and repeat the chant individually and in chorus. Give further support to those Ss who find it difficult to do the task. - Select some Ss to the front of the class to chant and clap their hands. The rest of the class may sing the chant along and clap their hands. *Outcome: read the chant with some words: red, pen, pencil. Activity 3. Listen and tick :7’ *Aim: help Ss to improve listening skill with some words pen, pencil, bell, red. *Procedure: - Have Ss point to the pictures of. Ask them to describe the pictures. Draw Ss’ attention to the boxes next to the letters a and b. Check comprehension. -Invite some Ss to point to the pictures and say the words in front of the class. E.g. 1a: a bell, 1b: a pen. Then have them point to the picture and say the sentences. E.g. 1a: This is a bell. 1b: This is a pen. After that, encourage them to say longer
- sentences. E.g. 1a: This is a red bell. 1b: This is a red pen. - Play the recording for Ss to listen and tick the box. - Let ss to listen again and check. *Outcome: improve listening skill with some words pen, pencil, bell, red. Activity 4. Look and trace.10’ *Aim: help Ss to look and trace with the sound of the letter E/e. *Procedure: - Have Ss look at the letter E (upper case) and e (lower case). Ask Ss to make sure if they recognize the two forms of the letter. - Tell Ss to trace the letter E/e . T can demonstrate by air tracing or tracing the broken lines of the letter E/e on the board. -Then let Ss do the tracing. Give further support to those Ss who find it difficult to do the task. - Check the results of Ss’ tracing and give feedback. Ask Ss to work in pairs and swap their answers. Give Ss time to work. Go around and offer help, if necessary. - Ask some Ss to show what they have done. - With a better class, write the letter E/e in broken lines on the board and invite some Ss to trace them. *Outcome: look and trace with the sound of the letter E/e. - Language: By the end of the lesson, pupils will be able to: - use the words school, classroom, library, playground, computer room, art room, music room and gym in the sentence pattern Let’s go to the _____; - use Is this our _____? – Yes, it is. / No, it isn’t. to ask and answer questions about their school; - use Let's go to the ______. – OK, let’s go. to make suggestions to go to a place at school and express agreement; - listen to and understand simple exchanges in relation to the topic “Our school”. Listen and number. 8 minutes Step 1: Have pupils look at the pictures. Point at each picture and elicit the school room. Play the recording twice so that pupils can do the task. Play the recording a third time to give pupils another listening opportunity and check their answers. Step 2: Check answers together as a class. Play the recording again for pupils to correct their answers. Extension: If time allows, play the recording sentence by sentence for the class to listen and repeat in chorus. Correct their pronunciation where necessary.
- PRACTICE Activity 5. Read and match. 9 minutes Step 1: Have pupils look at the pictures and say the names of the places. Tell pupils about the activity. Step 2: Give pupils time to read the sentences and match them with the correct pictures. Step 3: Tell pupils to swap books with a partner, then check the answers as a class. Write the correct answers on the board. Extension: If time allows, invite some pairs to role-play situations 3 and 4. PRODUCTION Activity 6. Let’s play. 8 minutes Step 1: Hold up a flash card for library and say: We like reading. Let's go to ____. Elicit the school room to complete the sentence. Show pupils the flash card and have them repeat the word and the sentence. Step 2: Hold up another flash card and continue with the game. Step 3: Divide the class into two teams. Each team plays the game in turn. If pupils in a team can guess the correct picture, they get a star. After three or four rounds, the team with the most stars is the winner. Give the team a fun prize. Fun corner and wrap-up: 5 minutes Game: Pass the ball - Divide the class into 3 teams. - Each team has 1 sticky ball. - Play the music, students in each team take turns to pass the ball. After the music ends, 3 students have the ball – stand up and say the new words learned in the lesson and make sentences, using the sentence models. Listen and repeat. 8 minutes Step 1: Draw pupils’ attention to the consonant cluster pl, the word playground, and the sentence Let's go to the playground. Play the recording and encourage them to point at the letter/ word/ sentence during their listening. Step 2: Play the recording again and encourage pupils to listen and repeat. Do this several times until pupils feel confident. Correct their pronunciation where necessary and praise them if their pronunciation is good. Step 3: Repeat Steps 1 and 2 for the consonant cluster cl. PRACTICE Activity 2. Listen and circle. 5 minutes Step 1: Draw pupils’ attention to the sentences and the answer options. Play the recording for pupils to listen. Play the recording again for pupils to listen and circle the correct options.
- Step 2: Tell pupils to swap books with a partner, then check the answers as a class. Write the correct answers on the board. Play the recording for pupils to check their answers again. Extension: Invite one or two pupils to stand up, listen and repeat the sentences. PRACTICE Activity 3. Let’s chant. 8 minutes Step 1: Draw pupils’ attention to the lyrics of the chant. Check comprehension of the lyrics and give feedback. Step 2: Play the recording all the way through so that pupils can listen to the whole chant. Encourage them to listen carefully to the rhythm and pronunciation. Draw their attention to the sounds of the consonant clusters cl and pl in the words classroom and playground in the chant. Step 3: Play the recording line by line for pupils to listen and repeat. Correct their pronunciation where necessary. Step 4: Play the recording all the way through for pupils to say the chant. Encourage them to clap along while they chant. Extension: Divide the class into two or more groups to take turns listening to and repeating the chant, while the rest of the class claps along. OBJECTIVES By the end of the lesson, pupils will be able to: Language knowledge & skills - listen to and understand two communicative contexts in which characters ask and answer questions about the quantity of school facilities and tick the correct pictures. - complete target sentence patterns in two dialogues with the help of picture cues. - sing the song Garden and buildings at my school with the correct pronunciation, rhythm and melody. Competences - Communication and collaboration: work in pairs and groups to complete the learning tasks - Self-control & independent learning: perform listening tasks Attributes - Show pride and responsibility in the facilities they have at their school. II.
